Michel'le Talks Being Beat By Dr Dre, 2Pac, Suge Knight & Movie Surviving Compton w/ Wendy Williams

It was less than a month since we got our first look at Michel’le’s Lifetime biopic Surviving Compton: Dre, Suge & Michel’le. Though the project has yet to air, it has already stirred up controversy for its depiction of Dr. Dre and Suge Knight’s alleged abuse toward the former Death Row singer. This weekend, it was reported Dre had issued a cease-and-desist letter to Sony Pictures, insisting Michel’le’s allegations were untrue; however, the potential lawsuit has not stopped the artist from telling her story.

Just days before the movie’s premiere, Michel’le made an appearance on The Wendy Williams Show where she opened up about her relationships with Suge and Dre, as well as her decision to make the biopic.

She explains to Wendy she didn’t initially want to make this movie; however, her omission from Straight Outta Compton made people talk, and she was eventually given the opportunity to tell her side.

According to TMZ, Dre’s letter states he dated Michel’le, with whom he shares a son, nearly 30 years ago; and within that time, she has never reported any kind of abuse on his part. The 45-year-old explained to Wendy why she stayed in the abusive relationship for so long, as well as her decision to not alert authorities.

“I stayed because it was normal,” Michel’le said. “After the first hit, you don’t think they’re going to do it again. And it does escalate, but I stayed because it became normal. I didn’t call the police because I didn’t want them to go to jail and it just was normal. I took it as a way of him showing me he loved me.”

You can watch the full interview above. Surviving Compton: Dre, Suge & Michel’le will air Saturday on Lifetime.
