Bobbi Kristina Brown’s boyfriend, Nick Gordon, has been found legally responsible for her death after he was a no-show for a hearing in Fulton County, Ga., on Friday (Sept. 16).

According to 11Alive News, Fulton County Superior Court Judge T. Jackson Bedford said that Gordon has failed to appear twice for the hearing and therefore any statements from his would be omitted.

As we previously reported, the conservator of Bobbi Kristina’s estate filed a wrongful death civil lawsuit against Gordon in August 2015. The estate alleges that Bobbi Kristina died “due to a violent altercation with Defendant (Gordon) after which he placed her in a bathtub, unconscious, after he injected her with a toxic mixture.” The also claim that he transferred money from Brown’s account into his own without authorization. No criminal charges have been filed against Gordon.

Bobbi Kristina, the daughter of Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown, died in August 2015 after spending several months in a coma. She was initially discovered unresponsive in a bathtub in her home.

“In court today, we finally finished a long journey for justice for Bobbi Kristina Brown,” said R. David Ware, an attorney for Bobbi Kristina’s conservator, outside of the courthouse. “The court agrees with us, by striking Mr. Gordon’s answer that he is legally responsible for her death. The only thing left to prove is the value of her life. We intend to do that.”

Leolah Brown, Bobbi Kristina’s aunt, was satisfied with the judge’s decision. “It’s been a long time,” she said. “They should have been gotten him. He should have been arrested. I’m angry. I’m angry because I want to see some justice. Something has to happen and it has to happen soon.”

A jury will now determine how much damages should be awarded to Bobbi Kristina’s estate. They are currently seeking $50 million in damages.
