“We had a couple of miscarriages,” Gordon told the U.K.’s Daily Mail. “We would have loved to have a kid but we weren’t planning on it yet and she was just such a young fragile person it took a toll on her.”
It seems the timing wasn’t right for the two either. “We wanted to get clean, settle down, get married, have kids,” he continued. However tragedy struck and drugs took over. “The drug use was becoming more and more and we were already using a lot. People started suggesting rehab but she was resistant, addicts are always resistant. She was mixing drugs,” he said.
It’s been almost a year since Kristina’s death. The 22-year-old singer-actress was found passed out in a bathtub before falling into a seven month coma before she passed.
“I blame myself for not getting to Krissy quick enough that day,” he continued in the interview. “I can’t blame myself for another addict’s addiction but I feel like I failed her. She didn’t make it. I wish she got help…I wish she got my spot [in rehab]. I did not protect her the way that I was supposed to, even if it was from herself.”
Kristina and her mom, Whitney Houston, have resurfaced in the minds of many fans after a video of the two popped up. The 2011 clip shows the two joyously dancing to Prince’s “Raspberry Beret” at The Purple One’s concert. Now that all three of them have had an untimely passing, it is truly tragic.
