Nicki Minaj‘s boss moves are being recognized in this year’s Time Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People list.
Each person has someone near and dear to them write a tribute. For Minaj, it’s none other than Lil Wayne, the rapper who saw her stardom and signed her to his label Young Money. Minaj is definitely a monster on the mic and Weezy agrees.
“When I heard the first two and four bars, it wasn’t even about her rapping better than any female rapper. It was about, man, she’s rapping better than other rappers—period,” he wrote. “I always wanted more for my artists and saw Nicki’s potential from the first moment I laid eyes on her.”
“She’s reached far beyond everything I would have imagined,” he continued. “Man, she’s so influential and doing all the right things. She’s an icon, a boss and a role model to all these young girls out here on how to do it the right way.”
But the “A Milli” rapper noticed one other thing about the 33-year-old — she’s still on the rise. “The scary thing is she’s still going. Ha! Nicki Minaj will go down as one of the best to do it in the history of music,” he wrote.
In celebration of the annual list, Minaj will also perform at this year’s TIME 100 gala alongside Ariana Grande, who also received a spot on the list. Ta-Nehisi Coates, John Kerry and Lin-Manuel Miranda are just some of the other distinguished figures who graced the list as well.
