Last week, Atlanta rapper OG Maco was in a near-fatal car accident. Maco suffered multiple skull fractures, cracked vertebrae, a broken orbital, and heart palpitations, and now, the rapper reports that he has lost his right eye. News of the accident broke after he posted an picture of himself in the hospital on Twitter.
He gave a status update on the extent of his injuries with a few tweets, quoting Kanye West’s famous lyric from “Through the Wire”— “Thank God I ain’t too cool for that safe belt.”
Since then, Maco has been keeping everyone up to date with his recovery process since the accident, posting photos on Instagram and generally remaining upbeat about his condition. However, yesterday (August 3), he shared a photo with his eye patch on, revealing that he lost an eye in the tragic accident.
The 24 year-old rapper defended himself against people who were doubting that he really suffered the injury.
“Bastards that had all these jokes like I really didn’t lose an eye,” he wrote in one caption. “I don’t mind. Just remember I never did a thing to you. World where the do-ers and dreamers are ridiculed more than losers.”
Maco also recently posted a picture of himself in the studio, so maybe the rapper is ready to offer up some new music once he’s back on the up and up. In the meantime, check his posts below.
