On the Charts: Adeles 25 Enjoys 10th Week at Number One news

The reign of Adele stretched into its 10th non-consecutive week as 25 once again topped the Billboard 200, selling another 100,000 total copies in its second straight week at Number One.

As Billboard notes, 25 is only the fifth album since 2000 to spend 10 weeks in the Number One spot. While 25 is within reach of Taylor Swift’s 1989 and Fearless (11 weeks each at Number One) and the Frozen soundtrack (13 weeks), Adele must topple a familiar adversary for the record of most post-2000 Number One weeks: Her own 21, which racked up a whopping 24 weeks atop the Billboard 200.

Rihanna’s Anti and Justin Bieber’s Purpose swapped spots over the past week, finishing at Number Two and Number Three respectively. The week’s highest charting debut belonged to Yo Gotti, the Memphis rapper who after two decades has landed a major hit with “Down in the DM.” Gotti’s latest The Art of Hustle entered a Number Four and 61,000 copies, both career highs for the rapper.

With Kanye West’s The Life of Pablo still unavailable to purchase – and with Tidal not disseminating the album’s streaming totals – the rest of the Billboard 200’s Top 10 remained largely the same. Chris Stapleton’s Best Country Album Grammy-winning Traveller held at Number Five while the Weeknd’s Album of the Year Grammy-losing Beauty Behind the Madness stayed at Number Six.

Twenty One Pilots’ Blurryface (Number Seven), Joey + Rory’s Hymns (Eight), Kevin Gates’ Islah (Nine) and Bryson Tiller’s Trapsoul completed this week’s Top 10.

Next week, Adele will finally be challenged for the Number One as Macklemore & Ryan Lewis have unleashed their This Unruly Mess I’ve Made, the duo’s follow-up to their breakout LP The Heist. The 1975 also have their sights set on the top spot with their I Like It When You Sleep, for You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware of It.
