PJ Morton is professing his love for around the way girls in “New Orleans Girl” featuring Trombone Shorty.

The track originally dropped in 2008 — but the Maroon 5 member added a classic NOLA bounce to the track to give it a fresh remake. It’s a theme that’s been tried and true with tracks like Charles Hamilton’s “Brooklyn Girl” or LL Cool J’s “Around the Way Girl.”
But that’s not all that fans can expect from Morton — he’s slated to drop songs with the classic New Orleans sound on his next project, Bounce and Soul Mixtape on Friday (March 25).

Morton who was previously signed to Young Money, started his own label, Morton Records, earlier this year. His forthcoming project will come under the label as well — it’s also being released for free at PJ”s Coffee chains in NOLA.

Morton has been focused on putting New Orleans back on the musical map. In an interview with NOLA, the crooner shared his plans for his label, Morton Records. “My vision of it is to be a New Orleans Motown,” he said. “I want to pull from New Orleans talent, develop it and put it out to the world.”

And Morton is definitely fulfilling that. He recently introduced fans to Jackson Ave, a group from the Louisiana city. They debuted their single “All These Dreams” earlier this year.
