La Coka Nostra was formed back in 2005 when members of House of Pain (Everlast, Danny Boy, and DJ Lethal), Non Phixion (Ill Bill), Special Teamz (Slaine), along with solo artist Big Left came together to create a new kind of hip-hop supergroup. On Thursday, they come through with their new single, "Stay True."
The track leads with a somber percussion before the bars about losing someone start to fall in, creating a chilling portrait about day to day life. In the end, the only thing each member can do is commit to staying true to themselves, which they celebrate on the old-school tinged chorus that comes to life with disc scratches and a heartfelt message presented in unison.
The release kicks off La Coka's new project, To Thine Own Self Be True, which will be dropping this fall. Of course, the group linked up with a ton of their friends for the release, which boasts production from DJ Lethal, Statik, and Marco Polo and features from the likes of Vinnie Paz, Ill Bill, and Apathy.
Staying in the La Coka Nostra spirit, group member Slaine is also premiering his new track, "Legendary," from his forthcoming EP, Slaine Is Dead, where he connects with friends ILL Bill, Vinnie Paz, and Jared Evan.
Listen to the premiere of both tracks below and catch up on why the hip-hop collective is one of the greatest supergroups of all time right here. Look out for La Coka Nostra's new To Thine Own Self Be True to arrive November 4 where as Slaine's new EP will drop even sooner on September 30.
