Prince‘s unexpected death has still left many of his fans and fellow musicians in a state of mourning.

TMZ caught up with former Revolution band members Wendy Melvoin and Lisa Coleman on their way to Minnesota. The duo, who has co-written and performed on many of Prince’s biggest albums and songs, revealed that they were heading back to meet with the band to “grieve.”

Melvoin and Coleman were both featured in the 1984 film, Purple Rain, which is currently playing in 87 theaters until Thursday (April 28). Prince left the group in 1986 but remained close to Melvoin and Coleman. He continue to occasionally perform with the ladies with one of their final times on stage together in 2006 at the Brit Awards.

A private memorial service was held over the weekend at Prince’s Paisley Park estate. Former bandmates and peers like percussionist Sheila E and bassist Larry Graham were in attendance. Prince’s body has been cremated.

“Prince’s remains have been cremated and their final storage will remain private,” read a statement from the family. “We ask for your blessings and prayers of comfort for his family and close friends at this time.”

The statement adds, “An announcement will be made at a future date for a musical celebration.”

There’s no word on when or if the Revolution will reunite for the musical celebration honoring Prince.
