McDonald’s might have run a very successful marketing campaign with Justin Timberlake singing their famous jingle, but it turns out Pusha T is the artist that wrote “I’m Lovin’ It” in the first place. Steve Stoute revealed to Ebro and the Hot 97 crew that the G.O.O.D. music president and very successful rapper wrote the slogan and jingle for McDonald’s “I’m Lovin’ It.”
“Our first big thing was launching ‘I’m Lovin It’ for McDonald’s, that was in 2004,” Stoute told Hot 97, speaking on his marketing company Translation. Ebro brought up Pharrell and Justin Timberlake’s involvement with the famous burger brand’s kingle, but Stoute quickly reminded him that their participation followed Pusha T, who is the artist that actually penned the words. “You know who did that? Pusha T. That’s crazy that Pusha T wrote the song for McDonalds. I can’t remember the money [received]. It was 11 years ago. Nobody was upset,” he joked. The “I’m Lovin’ It” tagline would revolutionize the franchise for the next decade.
The revelation that Pusha is responsible for one of the most memorable marketing campaigns adds just one more reason that Pusha is one of the most talented artists out there. Pusha just dropped the first single off his forthcoming album, King Push, “Drug Dealers Anonymous.” The track features none other than Jay Z himself and uses an audio clip from news anchor Tomi Lahren who declared that she always wanted to be on a track wtih two drug dealers. “I’ve got 99 problems but trust me, being on your rap ain’t one,” Lahren tweeted.
