Rick Ross Breaks Down the Impact and Importance of 'Port of Miami' news

Rick Rossdebut album Port of Miami turned ten years old earlier this month shortly after going platinum. In a series of video clips from Tidal, Ross breaks down the impact and lasting success of the project a decade after it first debuted.

He starts off by addressing his expectations before the project dropped, revealing that he didn’t know how it was going to do. “I don’t wanna say I really had any expectations other than I just wanted to feed the streets and let the streets know that there was a certified hustler come to the table,” he said. Whatever came with that, that’s what I expected.” Ross noted that the album going platinum indicated that he was successful in this goal.

Ross next notes the larger impact that the project had on the industry.”Port of Miami definitely impact the industry just from the sound and the producers that it spawned. The runners became some of the biggest producers in the game… Other than that I let the work speak for itself.”

He says that he knew it was successful based on “the love I was getting. That’s what let me know the effect that Port of Miami had.”

Ross finally pointed to his second verse on “It’s My Time” as his favorite on the whole project. “Just looking at where I came from, and where I was born, and what I was willing to sacrifice. I really just spoke in a way I don’t believe I had, and I believe it made that record to me my favorite.”
