The RZA is about to release new music under a new alias. The Wu-Tang Clan founder has partnered with Interpol frontman Paul Banks to form Banks & Steelz, an alternative pop-rap tandem with a distinctive new sound.

The duo originally formed in 2013 over a game of chess and decided to bring their creative minds together on a project.

“When I met Paul, I recognized the New York energy he has as a music artist,” said RZA. “We got to know each other playing chess and vibing out in the studio.”

“Our talents connected in a unique way and we started writing songs,” he continued. “The outcome was something distinctively different from my previous work, yet with another layer of cool.”

Banks and Steelz will release a new song from their upcoming debut album, Anything but Words, called “Giant” on Friday (June 10). The song is a follow-up to their previous single, “Love and War” (featuring Ghostface Killah).

The duo also unveiled the track list to the album as well. The 12-song collection boasts guest appearances from fellow Wu-Tang members Method Man and Masta Killa, pop singer Florence Welch of Florence + The Machine and Kool Keith.
