Music manager and founder of SB Projects Scooter Braun has worked with the biggest stars like Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande, and Karlie Kloss. In March, Billboard revealed that Braun has added Kanye West as one of his clients.
During an interview with Charlie Rose, Braun spoke about discovering Bieber and managing his career, the making of Jack Ü’s “Where Are Ü Now,” and how that collaboration helped shape the sound of Purpose. At around the 14:30 mark, Braun shares his experiences on working with West, who is a longtime confidant and friend of his.
“I can tell you the one thing that is my goal with working with him is I hope the world gets to see the guy that I’ve gotten to know,” he says. “A lot of people have an assumption that he might be selfish or arrogant. The guy who I’ve gotten to know—who I am learning to translate to others—is someone who literally got himself in financial trouble because he would give the shirt off his back to help someone.”
Braun explains that he wants to assist West in executing his vision in fashion and music. “I want to help take his journey to where he wants to go,” he says. “Whether it be with apparel, whether it be with the idea of creativity and putting stuff into the world that changes and shapes culture for a positive way. That’s his goal.”
Braun is a co-manager of West with his current rep Izzy Zivkovic. You can watch the interview between Braun and Rose above.
