Watch Avenged Sevenfold’s new video for “The Stage,” an eight-and-a-half-minute song ahead of their upcoming album.
Avenged Sevenfold present a caustic look at history and the future in the video for their new song "The Stage." In the clip, a marionette theater dubbed "Professor Batz Fantastical History of the World" displays Egyptians torturing slaves, puritans burning witches, French revolutionaries beheading a king, Civil War soldiers slaughtering Native Americans and scenes of all-out war and more as an audience looks on. A kicker at the end, timely to the U.S. election, shows who's pulling the strings.
The tune, which will appear on the band's upcoming album, is an eight-and-a-half–minute odyssey into the band's mix of hard rock and prog, including a lengthy guitar solo. "Who is the crowd that peers through the cage," frontman M. Shadows sings, "As we perform here upon the stage?"
The group has released few details of its upcoming LP, rumored to be titled Voltaic Oceans, though the band has hinted that they'll reveal more details on October 27th.
