Forthcoming movie captures Justin Timberlake onstage in Las Vegas.
Justin Timberlake recruited Jonathan Demme — the man behind legendary concert films like the Talking Heads' Stop Making Sense — to direct a movie about the final two dates of his recent tour in support of The 20/20 Experience. A short trailer for Demme's movie arrived on Friday that includes a few shots of Timberlake performing interspersed with a pre-show pep talk session with his band: "What a run," the singer tells them. "I love you guys."
Demme discussed his work on the Timberlake project last year. "It's very emotional, very exciting," he said. "It's a space age music film … There's tremendous dancing in this piece. He's got an extraordinary band called the Tennessee Kids. Huge horn section, two lead guitars, two drummers, eight dancers, four exquisite background singers. And we caught them on their last performance."
Justin Timberlake and the Tennessee Kids premiers next week at the Toronto Film Festival. It will be available on Netflix October 12th.
