The 'Suicide Squad' Soundtrack Tops the Billboard 200 Album Chart news

Despite receiving less-than-stellar reviews from critics, DC’s Suicide Squad has been completely crushing at the box office. And it appears the theater isn’t the only place where the film is dominating; it’s also taken the top spot on the album charts.

According to Billboard, the Suicide Squad soundtrack debuted at No. 1 this week, earning 182,000 units—128,000 of those were in traditional album sales. This marks the first theatrical soundtrack to hit No. 1 since 2015’s Pitch Perfect 2. Additionally, the album has posted the biggest debut sales week for a soundtrack since Fifty Shades of Grey, which earned 210,000 units in February of 2015.

Even before its release, the soundtrack generated a lot of buzz as it reportedly featured big-name acts like Lil Wayne, Wiz Khalifa, Rick Ross, Skrillex, Eminem, and Kevin Gates. Songs like “Purple Lamborghini,” “Sucker for Pain,” and “Standing in the Rain” are just a few of the powerhouse singles that drew fans to purchase the soundtrack.

Suicide Squad was followed by Drake’s VIEWS at No. 2, Skillet’s Unleashed at No. 3, Blake Shelton’s If I’m Honest at No. 4, and the latest Now compilation at No. 5.
