Troy Ave, who has been on house arrest since being charged with attempted murder for his role in a gunfight at a T.I. concert back in May, is suing Irving Plaza for their alleged lack of security.

According to DNAinfo New York, the Brooklyn rhymer has filed a lawsuit blaming Irving Plaza for allowing a gun to enter in the venue, which led to the fatal shootout. In the complaint, Troy Ave claims that security guards employed by Irving Plaza allowed him and other guests to enter through a VIP entrance located on the side of the venue without checking for weapons either with a wand or a metal detector.

Troy claims in the lawsuit that he nor any of his associates brought any weapons inside the venue, therefore, any firearm that was recovered was brought in by an unnamed third party.

As you may know, Troy Ave was hit with hit with five felony charges, including one count of attempted second degree murder. The charges stem from a gun battle that erupted in the green room at Irving Plaza. The wild shootout left his bodyguard and friend Ronald McPhatter dead and two others injured. Surveillance video captured Troy Ave firing a gun as he exited the green room.

Troy Ave was shot as well during the melee. In his suit, the BSB leader claims that the unknown assailant shot him and his friend McPhatter.

“As a result of the incident, the plaintiff, a 30-year-old promising performer with his entire career ahead of him, has been left with disabling injuries which will forever affect his life, his career and his pursuits,” the lawsuit claims.

Troy Ave, who is out on $500,000 bail, is seeking an unspecified amount of damages, including legal fees. His attorney, Scott Leemon, had no comment on the matter.
