Universal Zulu Nation founder Afrika Bambaataa was hit with some serious allegations on Thursday (March 31) that has left many fans wondering if they are true.

Former New York State Democratic Committee Member and author Ronald Savage appeared on Star’s Shot97 radio program and recalled several incidents in which he was allegedly molested as a teen by the hip-hop pioneer. Some of those details are revealed in his self-published book, Impulse Urges And Fantasies: Life Is a Bag of Mixed Emotions, Vol. 1, although he used fictitious names.

In a lengthy letter by King Kamzoni, International Spokesman for Zulu Nation, he denounced the allegations and demanded an apology from Savage. The letter reads in part:

Once again rumors, lies and outright slander have been aimed at Afrika Bambaataa and the Universal Zulu Nation. First of all this attack not only is defamation and assassination of character it is a diversion and attention shift tactic designed to counter all the positive works of the Universal Zulu Nation.

[Mr. Savage] has tried to place himself in history by associating himself with Afrika Bambaataa (Amen Ra of Hip Hop Culture) founder of the Zulu Nation. The problem is that he has chose to pursue the lower path of rumors and character assassination. He has recently written a book which details fictitious accounts which don’t add up chronologically and which place him as a victim.

By all accounts, Mr. Savage, please stop lying to the public and openly apologize to Africa Bambaataa/Universal Zulu Nation and all children world wide. Not only have you disrespected morally, spiritually and emotionally, but now there are serious legal issues that come into play as well. The Universal Zulu Nation works with victims of child and sexual abuse and takes these allegations extremely serious.”

Reps for Ronald Savage had no comment on the letter.
