Anohni unveiled the new video for “I Don’t Love You Anymore,” featuring a long close-up of the vulnerable vocalist while she sings the track.
Anohni unveiled her new video for "I Don't Love You Anymore," a six-minute-long close-up of her face while she sings the Hopelessness track.
Aesthetically, "I Don't Love You Anymore" is similar to the transgender artist's austere Hopelessness videos for "Drone Bomb Me," which featured a close-up of model Naomi Campbell singing the track and "Crisis," which did the same with actress Storm Lever. This time, Anohni looks straight into the camera while reciting lyrics like "I don't love you anymore/ It's been a while and I am sure/ You left me for another girl/ You left me in a broken world."
"People that know my music tend to rely on my voice as a source of comfort," Anohni told Rolling Stone of Hopelessness, which spans topics like drone bombing, dying animals, U.S. foreign policy and climate change. "This album was me not only making a series of indictments of our world, but also dealing with my own complicity as a participant in this prevailing consumer culture we're all enmeshed in."
