Bon Iver have unveiled their “00000 Million” lyric video.
Created, produced and directed by Aaron Anderson and Eric Timothy Carlson, the clip showcases artwork from Carlson as well as footage from One Year on Earth – Seen from 1 Million Miles. The film by NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center features the first image of the sunlit side of Earth taken by the agency's EPIC camera mounted on a satellite in space.
The mesmerizing rotating Earth imagery is an apt pairing with Bon Iver's minimalist piano-led song. Justin Vernon's layered, hymn-like vocals reflect on the bigger picture in the frame of everyday life, like when he rhymes spiritual truth against basic needs with the lines, "A word about gnosis/ It ain't gonna buy the groceries." He also sings, "If it's harmed me/ It's harmed me/ it'll harm me/ I'll let it in" – a pretty sigh that's less about resignation and more about acceptance.
As with their previously released "8 (circle)" lyric video, patterns and signs flit throughout the clip, including yin-yang symbols and other drawn imagery. Bon Iver have also released the lyric video for "715 – CR∑∑KS," "22 (OVER S∞∞N)" and the video for the extended version of "10 d E A T h b R E a s T ⚄ ⚄," as well as previously unveiled album single "33 God."
