In addition to hosting the much-anticipated duet between Lauryn Hill and the Weeknd, Jimmy Fallon sat down with Demi Lovato to play another round of Wheel of Musical Impressions, where the two combatants face off to sing nursery rhymes in the unique style of a picked-at-random vocalist.
In the first round, Lovato does a superb job of impersonating Cher singing “Bingo Was His Name-O,” while Fallon, a master impressionist in his own right, does a spot-on take on Louis Armstrong crooning “Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood.” Round Two found Lovato conjuring up her best Fetty Wap for “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star” against Fallon’s humorous version of Dave Matthews singing “I’m a Little Teapot.”
However, Lovato effectively delivers the knockout punch with a powerhouse, skyscraping rendition of the Spongebob Squarepants them via a Christina Aguilera imitation. “Game over. I can’t top that,” Fallon says before crowning Lovato the victor.
The Wheel of Musical Impressions is often a Tonight Show staple whenever talented singers sit on Fallon’s couch. In September, Fallon also played a round with Ariana Grande, who also had to perform as Christina Aguilera singing “The Wheels on the Bus.” However, Grande’s show-stopping impersonation came when the singer channeled Celine Dion for a rendition of the Weeknd’s “Can’t Feel My Face.”
