Watch Eddie Vedder Perform at All Star Chicago Cubs Benefit Concert news

Eddie Vedder performed a surprise set of Pearl Jam hits alongside Chicago Cubs GM Theo Epstein at the latter’s annual Hot Stove Cool Music benefit concert Friday at Chicago’s Metro. Vedder’s set featured solo renditions of “Better Man,” “Corduroy,” his Cubs anthem “All the Way” and “Rockin’ in the Free World.”

On the Neil Young classic, Vedder and Epstein were joined onstage by the rest of the “Hot Stove All-Stars,” including Smashing Pumpkins drummer Jimmy Chamberlin, New York Yankees centerfielder-turned-guitarist Bernie Williams and, on tambourine, Cubs manager Joe Maddon. Other members of the Cubs coaching staff also participated.

Vedder’s set also housed the Who’s “The Kids Are Alright” and his solo cut “Big Hard Sun.” To close out the Chicago branch of the benefit concert, which benefits Epstein’s Foundation To Be Named Later, the Jimmy Fund and other beneficiaries, Vedder returned to the stage for his cover of Split Enz’s “I Got You.” An autographed Vedder guitar also sold for $26,000 during the fundraising auction portion of the event.

Other performers at the Hot Stove Cool Music event included Liz Phair, Letters to Cleo’s Kay Hanley, Belly’s Gail Greenwood and more.
