Haim paid tribute to Prince Tuesday during their tour kick-off in Santa Ana, California with a rousing cover of 1984 classic “I Would Die 4 U.” The sister trio recreated the Purple Rain single’s massive synths and added harmonized electric guitars, climaxing by swaying their instruments in unison.

The band also debuted two new songs during the show, NME reported. The first, a funky pop tune titled “Give Me Just a Little of Your Love,” recalls Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers’ “Don’t Do Me Like That” with its stabbing piano chords and soulful guitar leads.

The second track, a New Wave epic reportedly titled “Nothing’s Wrong,” conjures Eighties-era Fleetwood Mac with its booming synth pads and throbbing synths. “Why do we do this to each other, baby?” they ask on the track, which climaxes with a soaring guitar solo.

Haim are nearly finished working on their second LP, a follow-up to 2013’s acclaimed Days Are Gone. In a March Instagram post, the band said they’re “finalizing” the album, adding, “We’ve just been in the studio so long, perfecting and trying to get it right. At this point we just want to go out there and play the songs live.”

The band’s ongoing tour will stretch into October, including festival dates at Bonnaroo, Governors Ball, Lollapalooza, Reading and Leeds, among others.
