Krewella x Diskord – Beggars

EDM duo Krewella debuted their first single in a year: the raucous “Beggars.” The track follows up 2015’s “Somewhere to Run.”

Blending hardcore and dubstep, the heavy new single furthers the Yousaf sisters’ fusion of rock with electronic music. The video shows them in a warehouse with a crowd of people moshing on the floor. Elsewhere, the mysterious shrouded ghost that appears on their single cover also appears throughout the clip. “We take, take, take ’til we get our fucking way,” they sing.

Jahan Yousaf detailed the song on her Tumblr page, explaining the significance of the shrouded ghost. “It’s about looking behind the veil and past the differences while opening the door to envisioning the experiences of others,” she wrote.

In 2015, Kris “Rain Man” Trindl left the group. The former member sued the Yousaf sisters for $5 million, claiming he had been unfairly kicked out. The remaining members countersued, claiming he had drug and alcohol issues and had resigned from the band himself, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The lawsuit was settled out of court in August though they have not released details on the settlement.

Last year, Krewella announced that they were working on a collection of songs they plan to release in time for a 2016 tour.
