Footage of a young Drake performing improv comedy at the Rivoli Theater in Toronto has surfaced due to a new CBC feature on the historic performance space in Drake’s home city.

It’s unclear whether this clip occurred before or after Drake scored his first major acting role on the hit Canadian teen soap, Degrassi: The Next Generation. The young Aubrey Graham exhibits proper “Yes, and” technique and exudes the kind of awkward charm that’s become a key part of Drake’s stage persona.

In the clip, Drake and his scene partner are onstage while audience members give plot directions like to act “nervous” or react to news. One of the directions calls on Drake to sing a “country/western” style song about the perils of weightlifting while pregnant. Drake’s off-the-cuff moves wouldn’t be out of place in his “Hotline Bling” video.

In April, Drake released his fourth LP, Views, which remains dominant on the charts. Recently the rapper, appeared on DJ Khaled’s new single, “For Free,” and released three new songs on an episode of his Beats 1 OVO Radio show 1: “4PM in Calabasas,” a Gucci Mane collaboration, “Back on Road,” and Justin Bieber’s remix of Views‘ smash “One Dance.”
