Watch the Avalanches' Hallucinogenic Comeback Video 'Frankie Sinatra' news

Carnival attendees run amok after downing glowing, hallucinogenic ice cream in “Frankie Sinatra,” the comeback video by New Zealand electronic/hip-hop group the Avalanches.

The warped clip mirrors the song’s circus-like beat, shifting from a carnival to an Everglades-set shootout to an unappetizing family dinner, all soundtracked by verses from Danny Brown and MF Doom.

The group premiered the song on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 radio show early Thursday morning. “It was just about trying to start the record off in the right way and once we had that feeling right we just built upon it and selected tracks we’d made that fitted. It’s kind of like making a mixtape,” the group told Lowe. “It’s been finished for a while but it’s not real until people get to hear it. It’s still very surreal in thinking that it’s all gonna happen now. There were lots of points where we thought it wasn’t gonna happen.”

The 21-track new album Wildflower is set for release July 8th after years of speculation and mystery about the group’s whereabouts and output. In April, the reclusive group announced a handful of 2016 summer festival dates, which ramped up the new album speculation. Last week, the group released a humorous teaser titled “Since They Left Us,” a play off their hit “Since I Left You,” featuring Brown, Father John Misty and Ariel Pink.

“Sorry we kept you waiting,” the group wrote on Twitter Thursday. “It’s been a wild ride and at times we thought we’d never make it through. What kept us going was the belief in the day-to-day experience of music as a life force  – as life energy.”
