August 16 was Young Thug‘s—or No, My Name Is Jeffery’s— birthday and he received a special serenade from none other than Wyclef Jean. In a video posted on Instagram by Thugger, Wyclef is seen singing his own version of happy birthday to the now 25-year-old rapper from what appears to be the inside of a studio.
“Dropping in 1 hour…@wyclefjean thanks brada,” Thug captioned the post, seemingly hinting that the pair were also working on a new track. Wyclef backed up that information with his own message confirming a collaboration on Twitter. “Happy Birthday,” he wrote. “Great to spend it making great music with you, Brother.” As of Wednesday morning, there is still no track from the pair, but we can rest assured that there is something on the way.
Thug is busy right now putting the final touches on his new project, Jeffery. The tape was originally scheduled to drop on his birthday, but his 300 label head, Lyor Cohen, teased a new release date of August 26 on his Snapchat. Interestingly enough, Thug claimed in a new message to fans early Wednesday morning that we could expect the project in the next “one or two days,” although a background voice is heard saying “two weeks.”
It looks like a tape delay could also be due to a late addition Travi$ Scott verse. Thug stopped by Scott’s new Beats 1 .Wav radio show and said that he was holding back the project for six hours so that Scott could record his verse that night.
Watch the pair in the studio above and keep your eyes open for Jeffery.
