It’s no secret that Beyoncé’s “Formation” track was received with mixed reviews. While some praised the song for its politically charged visuals and lyrics, others accused it of spreading an “anti-police” message. Bey’s performance of “Formation” at this year’s Super Bowl also sparked several boycotts among law enforcement, who claimed the singer used her appearance to “divide Americans” and promote the Black Panther Party; however, the 34-year-old singer insisted her message was misinterpreted.
“Anyone who perceives my message as anti-police is completely mistaken,” Beyoncé told Elle. “I have so much admiration and respect for officers and the families of the officers who sacrifice themselves to keeps us safe. But let’s be clear, I am against police brutality and injustice. Those are two separate things.”
Obviously, not every police officer is out for Bey. Some have even shown their appreciation and love for her work. But few have done it as epically as this man.
During what we assume was some sort of presentation, a cop in uniform dominated the stage with a “Formation” dance routine. And it was, for lack of a better word, lit.
