Watch U2 Evoke Resilience After Paris Attacks in Concert Film Trailer news

“You want us to be afraid?” Bono roars from Paris’ AccorHotels Arena stage in the new teaser-trailer of U2’s new Hamish Hamilton-directed concert film Innocence and Experience – Live in Paris.

The U2 singer movingly recites France’s national motto “Liberté, égalité, fraternité” in the wake of the November 15 terrorist attacks, the deadliest France has seen since WWII. Eighty-nine people were killed at an Eagles of Death Metal Concert at the Bataclan theater out of a total 130 casualties. The documentary showcases two historic performances U2 gave, which emblematized the bravery of Paris’ music community and reminded the world of music’s ability to heal and unite.

The clip features live snippets of U2 anthems “Vertigo” and “Beautiful Day,” along with Patti Smith’s “People Have Power.” Both Smith and Eagles of Death Metal make guest spots during the concert film, taped across two nights at the AccorHotels Arena. Live in Paris will be released on DVD, Blu-Ray and digital formats Friday, June 10th via Interscope/Island.

In March, guitarist the Edge told Rolling Stone that the band had already generated “50 ideas” for Songs of Experience, their 14th LP and companion piece to 2014’s Songs of Innocence. “It’s really hard to say at this point when it will be done,” he said. “We’re definitely still in the weeds here. We’re not booking the pressing plant, so to speak, just yet.”
