Watch Van Morrison Sing Spirited 'Brown Eyed Girl' in 1973 news

Van Morrison gives a soulful, flashy performance of “Brown Eyed Girl” in an exclusive clip from Legacy’s upcoming CD/DVD reissue of …It’s Too Late to Stop Now.

The new set is an extension of Morrison’s 1974 live album of the same name, which distilled eight sets from the musician’s 1973 tour into a double LP that did not undergo any post-performance tinkering. The reissue, …It’s Too Late to Stop Now … Volumes II, III, IV and DVD, features performances originally recorded at three venues during the summer of 1973: the Troubadour in Los Angeles, the Santa Monica Civic Center and the Rainbow Theatre in London.

Morrison and the 11-piece Caledonia Soul Orchestra’s July 24th show at the Rainbow is featured on the live DVD, and the clip of “Brown Eyed Girl” showcases just how tight and precise the group had gotten during their 1973 trek. Even though the arrangement is much faster than the studio version, the Caledonia Soul Orchestra finds plenty of room for fresh horn and string flourishes and Morrison – clearly relishing the pace – shows off his always-stunning vocal command.

…It’s Too Late to Stop Now … Volumes II, III, IV and DVD arrives on June 10th. The set will be available as a three-CD/one-DVD collection, or in double-CD or -LP configurations. Studio wizard Guy Massey – who’s helmed reissues of the Beatles and Paul McCartney – remixed the recordings from the original two-inch, 16-track analog tapes.
