Vince Staples has released a surreal 10-minute short film to accompany his new EP, Prima Donna.

Directed by Nabil, the clip features snippets of several songs off Prima Donna, starting with with the closing track, "Big Time," which plays as Staples slogs through a generic video shoot. After leaving the set, the Long Beach MC approaches a cabbie who first responds to him with the opening bars of "Smile," and then promises to take the rapper somewhere to relax.

The journey quickly turns into a fever dream as the cabbie drops Staples off at a parking garage, where he takes an elevator — decorated with wallpaper featuring the same design as the Overlook Hotel carpet in The Shining — up to a seedy motel. Staples gets his room key, and while "Prima Donna" plays, rides the elevator up with a beautiful woman and wide-eyed bellboy. In his room, however, Staples finds himself surrounded and trapped by hordes of fans as he tears through "War Ready."

After blacking out, Staples wakes up in a field and stares at the sky while he spits "Loco." After the song cuts out, though, Staples sings "This Little Light of Mind" in an eerie moment of serenity followed by a sequence in which he shoots a mirror, a crowd applauds and Staples, back in the field, begins to bleed out.

"On Prima Donna, he stares down his survivor's guilt with black humor and black rage," Rolling Stone wrote in our review of the EP. "The music is as bleep-y as it is banging (James Blake produces on two tracks) and touchstones include Andre 3000, James Joyce, Leonardo DiVinci and Jay Gatsby."
