YG Talks About Police Shutting Down His Video Shoot for "FDT" news

YG and Nipsey Hussle released “FDT (Fuck Donald Trump),” which is a diss track aimed at Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump.

For the song’s video, the duo announced an impromptu shoot on Instagram in Los Angeles where about 100 people showed up. TMZ reported the shoot was shut down by police as it was winding down. The cops didn’t know it was a video shoot, and were responding to calls about large crowds and cars gathering. TMZ also stated that police arrived in riot gear.

Shortly after DJ Mustard surprised everyone when he brought out YG at Coachella, the Compton rapper spoke with Complex backstage about “FDT.” He says him and Nipsey were fully aware of the consequences from their protest record.

“We speaking for a lot of people who are not really speaking up or they got nobody in no situation that’s really gonna put it all on the line for they race [and] they culture,” he says. “We feel a similar way everybody else feels. We just took it on the chest. Like, ‘Look, This is what we about to do. We gonna speak on it.’ Fuck whatever consequences and all of that. We gonna deal with it.”

Billboard reported that a number of citations were given out that ranged from illegally modified exhaust systems to excessive speeding and loitering for the purpose of street racing.

YG confirms that nobody was hurt or arrested when squad cars and a police helicopter arrived to disperse the crowd. “That’s the type of shit that we was gonna have to deal with. We knew that and we dealt with it,” he says. However, he believes the message needs to resonate with listeners, referring to the fact that there’s a lack of music that talks about sensitive topics.

“This is real hip-hop. This is what this shit is built off of-talking about the culture and what’s going on and putting it out there to make a difference. Let motherfuckers know, we out here,” he says.
